Hungarian Open 
Eger, Hungary  1-4 March 2012

Twenty one countries and 100 athletes participated in the Hungarian Open in Eger, Hungary in 2012  including five from Romania: Gabriela Constantin (OK Bucuresti); Dacian Makszin and Petru Ifrosa, Mihai Miron, Laszlo Koloszi  all members from (CCSH Lamont).

Gabriela Constantin won two of her three matches in the group of 4 combined class 6-7 players against a Russian and Hungarian player and won the silver medal, an excellent result. Dacian won both his matches in his group finishing top of his group and a place in the final 8. He won his third match against Israel entering him in the semi-finals. However he lost his final two matches putting him in 4th place. Petru, Mihai and Laszlo all lost their matches in the singles events.

In the team event Dacian partnered Petru and were in a group of five teams – combined classes 4-5 - insuring 4 matches each. They were very difficult matches losing 2-3 against Brazil, losing all matches against Slovakia and Germany but winning 3-0 against Hungary giving them 4th place.  Mihai and Laszlo lost their games against CZE/BRA, Hungary, Spain but won 3-0 against Great Britain. Gabriela partnered a new Russian player who was very inexperienced and won against Hungary 2 team, winning all her three matches. They were beaten easily by Brazil, lost 1-3 to Hungary 1 and lost 0-3 to Russia putting them in 4th place.

Finally Dacian won 4th place at both events, Petru, Mihai and Laszlo won  4th place at the team event,  while Gabriela Constantin won a silver medal at the single event and 4th place at the team event. It was the first international competition of the year and the results were very good especially for Gabriela who continues to show real progress.

Lignano International Table Tennis Open

Dacian Makszin, Petru Ifrosa (CCSH Lamont Cluj) and Gabriela Constantin (OK Bucureşti) represented the National Paralympic Team in Lignano, Italy where 230 players participated from 27 countries.  

Dacian lost to  Schmidtberger, Germany who won the competition but beat Saiger from Austria and in the next round lost to Ohgren, Sweden, who won the silver medal in the final. Petru lost to Croatia and Turkey but beat Dela Bina. Italy 3-0 .  Gabriela Constantin lost to Safonova from Ukraine but beat Egypt 3-0. In the next round she lost to Ovsyannikova from Russia. 
At the team event Dacian partenered Petru Ifrosa while Gabriela Constantin had a partner from Russia. The boys played extremely well against Italy/Sweden (1-3)  and Hungary/Switzerland (2-3). Gabriela lost against a combined team of Netherlands/Turkey and the Ukrainian team both of whom won the gold and bronze medal respectively. 
This was an extremely high standard competition, in fact a repitition of the Paralympics in London. The results do not reflect really how well our team played.
