IPC European Championships in Athletics 2014

                                               Swansea, UK 19-23 August 2013

RomanianTeam-Athletics.jpgTaking place at the Swansea University International Sports Village in England, the EuroCiprian.jpgpean Paralympic Championships in Athletics featured around 600 of Europe’s best athletes from 39 countries competing for medals. Romania was represented by  Ciprian Baraian and Petrisor Prundaru  both from the Lamont Sports Club and Florin Cojoc (Iasi) with Adrian Tamas, the national trainer. Ciprian (18 yrs old) took part in the javelin today and finally was placed 4th - very nearly a bronze medal but with his last throw the Polish athlete threw 39.16 metres.  Ciprian's magnificent throw of 38.40m was a personal best and a national record for the National Paralympic Committee, Romania. Two days later Ciprian ran the 400m and came 4th again narrowly losing the bronze medal to Turkey. His time was 53.90 against a very strong head wind, again a "personal and season best". Petrisor (19 yrs) finished his long jump also with a "personal best" of 5.49m. The results at the European Championships were excellent considering this is the first time they both have participated in this competition.
